Experience

It is my belief that all experience has value in a work environment. I played basketball for 8 years during that time I was a member of Perdiswell Pacers and Captain of the women’s team for 1 year during that time. I always knew I had a passion for advertising and eager to get more of an understanding I spent two weeks at Armadillo Creative.

In February 2011 I started work for Friendtrend as a Marketing and PR intern. Here I worked on a marketing plan and strategy, conducted market research and developed social media presence through various platforms. (Time Spent 5 months)

July 2011, I became the marketing intern for SEED/Breathe I developed skills in marketing delivery, corporate identity and branding, leaflet & poster design, editing the SEED website, booking advertising and creating information packs.

January 2012 I started as a Marketing intern for Essentials which is part of UCLan student’s union. I created a strategy to help get students involved in trying new recipes and voting on top dishes.

August 2012 I took a job as PR/Marketing Assistant for Magma Digital a web development agency based in Preston. I worked on preparations for PHPNW12, sent out press releases about new recruits and created content for company blog.

Academic

I have just finished studying BA Hons Advertising & Marketing Communications at University of Central Lancashire (Graduating July 10th 2012). During my course I have learnt about Marketing & Human Behaviour, Marketing Principles, Critical Thinking & Writing, Creativity & Knowledge Management, Commercial Awareness, Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Innovations, Industry Awareness, Skills for Advertisers, Buyer Behaviour and Marketing Research. I have also represented the university as part of the 2011 team for Flux500 competition and at the CIM Pitch 2012 competition for Diabetes UK.

My great passion for learning from experience not just text-book knowledge developed during my GCSE’s. With hands on subjects like Textiles (B), Art (B) and Resistant Materials (B) giving practical knowledge I also throughly enjoyed English Literature and Language (A), Maths (B), Science (BB) and History (B). As well as receiving a Princess Diana Award for Citizenship for providing support to other students as a Peer Mentor. I also became team captain of the local women’s basketball club.

I then went onto study a BTEC National Diploma in Media Production (Distinction, Merit, Merit) this two-year course enabled me to develop skills on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro, Motion and Soundtrack Pro. As well as skills in holding meetings, taking minutes, leading a team, completing project proposals and evaluations.

During all my academic studies I have acquired a wide variety of skills and knowledge from a variety of different fields.
